Why God is So Thrilled When You and Your Husband Make Love

God has a front row seat to your lovemaking.

Every. Single. Time.

Are you recoiling or rejoicing at such truth?

If I was a betting gal, I would wager that many of you are in the recoil camp, right? The reality of God seeing you and your husband having sex has left you at best blushing with laughter and at worse horrified with embarrassment.

Well, don’t click away quite yet.

Hear me out on why God is so thrilled when you and your husband make love. Seriously. He is giddy with delight when you make love! He can hardly contain Himself.

We too often forget that it was God who laid out the first blueprint for sex.

It was His handiwork that crafted sexual arousal… arousal, mind you, that is not limited to our genitals.  Every one of our senses eagerly suits up and takes the field in our sexual encounters.

But let’s not stop at arousal.

Then God was clever enough to design a man and woman’s bodies to fit together. The physiological wonders of a penis becoming erect, a vagina becoming moist and nerves conveying pleasure are quite mind-blowing, if we really stop to think about it.

As if all that is not enough, God declares this little endeavor of sex will be for more than making babies. Sure, the baby-making part is pretty cool, and kudos to God for using this method to keep the human race humming along.

I mean, He could have done it any way He wanted. Thank God we get to do it through sex rather than Amazon Prime or one of those kiosks at the airport.

BUT God says the gift of sex goes way beyond its outcome of offspring.

God tells a husband and wife to have sex as often as possible, regardless of whether they are making babies in the process. Why? It strengthens their marriage. It’s fun. It helps them keep their eyes on Him and on each other. (1 Corinthians 7:3-5 gives us the clearest vision of this.)

In Deuteronomy 24:5, we see this lovely command about a recently-married man not being sent away for war or “any other duty” his first year of marriage. Is this so he and his lovely bride can fill their home with IKEA treasures or figure out which recipes work best in their Instant Pot?

Uh. No.

“If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.” (Deut. 24:5, NIV)

God’s heart cries out in these verses, “Enjoy each other as only the two of you can enjoy each other! Have sex! Have a lot of sex! Discover what’s so fabulous about your oneness — physically, emotionally, spiritually.”

Proverbs 5:18 proclaims to husbands, “May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.”

The next verse goes on to say… “A loving doe, a graceful deer — may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.” (Proverbs 5:19, NIV)

Hmmm. What’s going on here?

Did the Lord just say that a husband should sexually enjoy his wife’s breasts and be drunk on her love and experience lots of fountain blessing? That’s not even innuendo. I mean, this isn’t a picture book, but the images are pretty clear, aren’t they?

Props to You, God, on the visuals. Well done.

Don’t even get me started about the book of Song of Songs, what with all its sexual allegories and metaphors and “come into your garden” and “his fruit is sweet to my taste” and “my head is covered with dew” and “your lips drip with honey” and “my perfume spread its fragrance” and “your breasts are like two fawns.”

Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?

Anyway.

He is God of the universe and seems to have left no detail out, right?

He designed every cell in our bodies, knows the number of hairs on our head, masterminded the whole recessive and dominant gene thingy, orchestrated a vast array of skin color, and equipped us with amazing mental, emotional and physical capacities.

For crying out loud, we put a man on the moon, we can cry watching a commercial, and we managed to turn tiny houses into a trend.

To say God has made us complex would be a preposterous understatement. He is meticulous in His creation of His people, and that includes HIs creation of our sexual intimacy.

Along those lines of “leave no detail out,” He came up with this experience of orgasm — for a man and a woman.

Let that sink in a moment.

God is the creator of orgasm. You know. That feeling that feels like no other feeling. That was His idea.

The clitoris serves no other purpose but sexual pleasure for a woman. No. Other. Purpose. It’s not going to regulate your heartbeat, monitor your blood sugar or keep your thyroid in check.

Nope. It’s just going to give you indescribable sexual pleasure. And the head of man’s penis has a copious amount of nerves.

It feels so good to come because God designed it.

Beyond the physical merits of sex, the whole oneness aspect was part of His game plan, too.  Something happens when you and your husband make love — something other-worldly — something godly — something drenched in a mingling of souls.

Think I’m crazy?  What I just described is why adultery is so devastating. Among nearly all married folk, even ones who would fancy themselves more liberal, the thought of our spouse having sex with another person is devastating.

Why?

Because God designed sex to be this exclusive experience of passion between a husband and wife in a covenant relationship.

He rejoices when we protect that sexual covenant. We protect it not just by believing it is sacred, but also by engaging in it often …as a way to cement the deal, so to speak.

Have we covered all the proverbial bases as to why God is so thrilled when you and your husband make love?

Do you see it? Do you see that when you nurture sexual intimacy in your marriage and savor where it takes you, you are unabashedly agreeing with God and His design of sex?

God has a front row seat to your lovemaking.

Every. Single. Time.

Rejoice in that. Rejoice. He is thrilled when you and your husband make love.

Excellent post. The following points are worth repeating and thinking on for Christian married couples (including newlyweds).

“God tells a husband and wife to have sex as often as possible, . . . Why? It strengthens their marriage. It’s fun. It helps them keep their eyes on Him and on each other.”

“It feels so good to come because God designed it.” Yes! And, it is very good when BOTH the husband and the wife respect, appreciate and VALUE each other’s orgasms. This is so very important: the shared pleasure of each other’s pleasure.

“Beyond the physical merits of sex, the whole oneness aspect was part of His game plan, too.” And, that is why we call it making love and not merely “sex”.

Wonderful explanation of how God designed sex to be a pleasure for man and wife. We’re blessed that He gave us such a great way to worship Him.
