I’m Getting a Brazilian Wax for the First Time. Any Tips?

advice-for-a-brazilian-waxAll in the name of research, my friends! I’m getting a Brazilian wax for the first time!

I have wanted to write about this waxing procedure. I figured if I’m going to write about it, I should be able to offer you a first-hand account.

I am well aware there are people in both camps about a Brazilian wax. Some people love it and see lots of benefits to it, whereas other people think it is wrong or unnecessary.

I just see it as a personal choice. I wouldn’t devote even an ounce of energy to fiercely debating it one way or the other, but I have met people who do have strong opinions about this.

As for me, I want to give it a try.

Not only do I want to get the low down on this waxing experience, but I also want to know what sex feels like for me and my husband after I have it done.

I was at a social gathering one evening a few years back, and a couple of gals and I struck up a conversation about sex (imagine that?!). One of the women told me she had a Brazilian wax, and as we were chatting about this, her husband walked up. She glanced at him and said, “Hey babe, tell them what you thought about sex after I had the Brazilian!”

Let’s just say this man’s eyes lit up big time and he had a frisky little smile. I’ve never forgotten the look on his face. Plus, his wife didn’t recoil as she thought back on what it was like to actually have it done, so that’s encouraging. I hear they are quite painful.

I was reflecting on this conversation recently and I admit it inspired me to give it a try! I also have heard Brazilian waxing is becoming more popular among 20-somethings, so that piqued my curiosity. Instead of striking up a conversation about Brazilian waxing with random 20-somethings, I thought it would be better to dive in myself and get it done.

Plus, the older I get, the more inspired I am to embrace new experiences. Yeah, I know. Of all the new experiences I could embrace, this is on my list?!

So I called and made the appointment.

But I have a few days till then, so I am seeking any tips any of you may have for me.

If you have had a Brazilian wax, what do you think I need to know about my first time doing this?

Feel free to comment on this post. I moderate my comments to keep spam off the blog, so I will have to approve the comments before they appear. But please comment! I want to hear your insights!

I actually like the Brazilian wax. I’ve only had it done a couple of times. I don’t know if it’s because I feel a little more sassy/ sensual/ confident or if it feels different to hubs. But there’s definitely a difference after a fresh wax.
It’s actually not that painful. There are a few spots that are super sensitive and might sting a little, but nothing unreasonable.

I have done this a couple of times. It is painful, but not lasting pain. Make sure you read all the post-treatment instructions because the worst thing could be ingrown hairs. My husband enjoys it, and I liked the cleanliness factor so much that I’m now going through laser treatments to permanently remove the hair. And I’m 53! It is a little out of my comfort zone (embarrassing to go through), but once it’s done it’s worth it!

I started with Brazilian waxing 3-4 years ago. I’m in my later 50’s. My husband loves it! I do also. Improved sensation! It is temporarily painful but the benefits outweigh that bit of pain. Find an esthetician who does a lot of these & has the process down to the least ‘pulls’ possible. Tips for the experience: Make sure you let them know this is your 1st wax there. Breathe through it. She may trim your pubic hair before waxing. Go in clean (Obvious but my esthetician has stories). It feels a bit weird at first, you get used to it. Repeat waxing every 4-5 weeks. Let us know about your experience!

Since my wife decided to get waxed about 4 years ago (now once every 6 months) the love making feels more erotic. (better)

We seem to take our time more and orally speaking I teasingly stimulate her outer and inner lips before stimulating her clitoris. Before she started waxing I didn’t orally tease or softly suck on each of her lips because it was difficult. Her lips are exposed and more sensitive to the ultra soft erotic feathering touch.
I’ll admit I like her smooth. Waxing every 6 months keeps her hair short enough so my own eyes are able to see how good she looks to me.
I now get waxed every 6 months myself.
