As I have mentioned before, I am highlighting Christian blogs that have a passion for encouraging healthy sexual intimacy in marriage.
Today I am excited to highlight Sheila Gregoire’s blog, To Love Honor and Vacuum, and to give you a little insight on her passion for encouraging marriages.
As a writer on sexual intimacy in marriage and marriage in general, Sheila Gregoire has been such a positive and needed voice for several years! Thank you, Sheila, for answering the below questions:
1. Why did you start writing/speaking about sexual intimacy in marriage?
I never intended to! I was writing about marriage and parenting, but my first book (To Love Honor and Vacuum) had a chapter about sex. That’s what people kept asking me about!
Then my husband and I started speaking for FamilyLife Canada, and we always got stuck with the sex talk, because nobody else wanted to do it, and I didn’t care! Plus, my husband’s a physician, so he’ll talk about anything!
Soon I was asked to be Promise Keepers Canada’s sex columnist, and then I started writing more about sex on the blog. Then “The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex” came out. And it changed everything! But I NEVER thought I’d be a sex writer, especially since sex was one of the biggest problems in our marriage for so long.
2. What do you hope readers/listeners gain from visiting your site?
I want them to see that sex can be awfully fun, but that it’s not automatic that things work like clockwork. And that’s okay! And I also want to go beyond some of the “pat answer” marriage advice that we often hear in church that simply doesn’t often work.
I like showing that relationships are messy, and what God really wants is for us to be surrendered to Him and running after Him, not looking like we have it all together on the outside.
